Vital Pulp Therapy in Deep Caries: Where Does the Evidence–Practice Gap Remain?
Abstract
The way dentists approach exposed pulp is rapidly changing. Vital pulp therapy (VPT) a technique once mostly limited to very specific cases is now widely accepted as a more viable option for carefully selected cases. Modern clinical guidance reflects greater understanding of how pulp tissue heals, emphasising accurate diagnosis, strict aseptic technique, effective bleeding control, the precise choice of filling materials, and final well-sealed long term restoration. In this issue of the journal, Elsharkasi and colleagues provide insight into how modern ideas impact the treatment preferences of dentists in Benghazi, Libya.
